RIVER

River Turns a Family Goodbye Into a Fight for Survival

The sun is going down.

The boat won't start.

There's no cell service.

And someone is watching from the shore.

River stars Jane Levy, Jessica Rothe and Max Mattern as three estranged siblings brought back together following the death of their father.

Their relationship may be complicated, but they have one final thing they need to do as a family:

Scatter their father's ashes.

The siblings travel to his favorite spot along a remote river, hoping to honor his memory and perhaps find some closure of their own.

Then their boat breaks down.

Stranded on the water as daylight disappears, they quickly realize they're not alone.

A mysterious masked figure, played by Dane DiLiegro, appears along the shoreline.

And he's not simply watching.

What begins as a quiet family memorial turns into a relentless fight for survival as the siblings are hunted through an isolated stretch of wilderness with no working boat, no phone service and seemingly no way to call for help.

Forced to depend on one another, old family tensions suddenly matter a lot less than making it off the river alive.

From the producers of Backrooms and Obsession, River marks the feature directorial debut of writer-director Joshua Giuliano, bringing a stripped-down survival setup to the slasher genre.

Three siblings came to the river to say goodbye to their father.

Someone else intends to make sure they never leave.

River arrives exclusively in theaters January 15, 2027.
