Wonka’s The Golden Ticket Opens the Chocolate Factory to a Real-Life Competition

The gates to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory are opening again, but this time, real contestants have the golden tickets.

Netflix's Wonka’s The Golden Ticket turns the world of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory into a reality competition, with 12 golden ticket winners entering Wonka's factory alongside a partner of their choosing.

Once inside, they'll discover that winning a ticket was only the beginning.

Contestants must make their way through a series of imaginative challenges and temptations designed to test them physically and mentally while putting their instincts, decision-making and character under pressure.

And, naturally, there will be Oompa Loompas.

The competition draws inspiration from Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory while also paying tribute to the classic 1971 film Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory.

One of its biggest connections to the original movie will be Willy Wonka himself. The series will feature a recreated version of Gene Wilder's voice, used with the consent of the late actor's estate as a tribute to his iconic performance.

Another familiar piece of Wonka history is returning as well. Rusty Goffe, who appeared in the 1971 movie, will once again step into the chocolate factory as an Oompa Loompa.

Ultimately, only one contestant will survive Wonka's unpredictable world and walk away with the competition's life-changing grand prize.

Hopefully nobody turns into a giant blueberry along the way.

Wonka’s The Golden Ticket premieres September 23 on Netflix, with its two-part finale arriving September 30.
