War Turns a Celebrity Divorce Into a Legal Battlefield

For London's most powerful lawyers, divorce isn't personal.

It's war.

HBO's War stars Dominic West and Sienna Miller in a high-stakes legal drama centered on a bitter celebrity divorce that puts two of London's most powerful law firms on a collision course.

West plays Morgan Henderson, a British tech entrepreneur whose marriage to international film star Carla Duval (Miller) is coming to a very public end.

And neither side intends to lose.

Representing them are rival firms Cathcarts & Sons and Taylor & Byrne, where reputation, money and influence are nearly as important as what happens inside the courtroom.

Caught in the middle is ambitious young lawyer Jonathan “Johnny” Warren (Archie Renaux), who quickly discovers that working among London's legal elite means entering a world where ambition is currency, betrayal can be strategy and winning sometimes matters more than everything else.

As Morgan and Carla's divorce becomes headline news, their attorneys dig deeper into the couple's lives and the battle becomes increasingly personal — putting careers, relationships and closely guarded secrets at risk.

Created by George Kay, whose previous work includes Lupin and Hijack, the eight-episode series uses one explosive divorce to open the door into the competitive world of Britain's most powerful attorneys.

And the legal battles are only beginning.

War has already been renewed for Season 2, which will introduce a new case involving Marisa Tomei, Kelly Macdonald and David Harewood and an explosive defamation battle.

Season 1 of War premieres Thursday, October 1 at 9:00 p.m. ET/PT on HBO and HBO Max, with new episodes arriving Thursdays.
