Nearly three decades later, Varnell Hill still believes he's the biggest star in the building.

Tommy Davidson reprises his fan-favorite Martin character in The Varnell Hill Show, a new comedy that takes audiences behind the scenes of Varnell's long-running late-night talk show.

The character originally appeared on Martin as an over-the-top television personality whose larger-than-life confidence made him memorable despite appearing in only a small part of the original sitcom.

Now Varnell finally has a show of his own.

The series finds him trying to keep his television empire alive in an entertainment industry that has changed dramatically around him. Network executives want to modernize the show, writers are scrambling to keep up, celebrity guests bring their own complications, and Varnell's family and personal life create even more chaos behind the scenes.

Through all of it, Varnell remains absolutely convinced that he is still the star everyone came to see.
