THE ONE ABOUT MATTHEW PERRY

The One About Matthew Perry Goes Beyond Chandler Bing

For millions of people, Matthew Perry will always be Chandler Bing.

But there was much more to his story than the character who made the world laugh.

The One About Matthew Perry is a three-part Netflix documentary series offering an intimate look at the actor, comedian and advocate through the people who knew him best.

From 1994 to 2004, Perry starred in all 236 episodes of Friends, turning Chandler's quick wit and self-deprecating humor into one of the defining television performances of a generation.

Behind that success, Perry was fighting a much more difficult battle.

He spoke publicly about his struggles with addiction and recovery, eventually using his experiences to advocate for others facing similar challenges.

The documentary explores both sides of his life, the extraordinary Hollywood success audiences witnessed and the deeply personal struggles taking place away from the cameras.

At the center of the series is Perry's sister, Mia Perry Bowick, along with lifelong friends, family members and creative collaborators who share memories of the person they knew beyond his public image.

The series also includes previously unreleased photographs and videos from the Perry family's private archive, offering another perspective on the man behind the familiar face.

Perry died in October 2023 at the age of 54.

Rather than defining him solely by Friends or by the addiction he spent years confronting, The One About Matthew Perry looks at the whole person, funny, vulnerable, generous, complicated and determined to turn his own struggles into something that might help others.

The world knew Chandler Bing.

This is about getting to know Matthew Perry.

All three episodes of The One About Matthew Perry begin streaming October 27 on Netflix.
