About The Lowdown

The Lowdown Season 2 Gives Lee Raybon Another Truth to Chase

Lee Raybon has a talent for finding the truth.

Unfortunately, trouble usually finds him first.

Ethan Hawke returns in Season 2 of The Lowdown as Lee Raybon, the self-proclaimed Tulsa “truthstorian” whose obsession with exposing corruption regularly puts him exactly where he probably shouldn't be.

Lee operates out of a rare bookstore in the heart of Tulsa while pursuing stories about the powerful people and hidden secrets shaping his city.

Season 2 actually begins with something unusual happening to him:

Things are going well.

His investigation into Dale Washberg earns Lee a local citizen journalism award. Naturally, he responds by making a spectacular mess of the ceremony.

But his unfiltered acceptance speech catches the attention of Ginger, a sharp public defender played by Betty Gilpin who shares Lee's interest in uncovering uncomfortable truths.

She also has a mystery.

One of Ginger's clients has somehow disappeared from inside a state prison.

How does someone go missing from a place specifically designed to prevent people from leaving?

For Lee, the question is irresistible.

Their investigation begins uncovering potential connections to power, corruption and Tulsa's wealthy elite, giving Lee exactly the kind of story he can't leave alone.

His personal life isn't getting any simpler either. His daughter Francis wants more of his time, while Lee's ex has remarried — and her new husband ends up becoming an unlikely part of Lee's investigation.

Then Tommy Lee Jones arrives as Lee Raybon Sr., Lee's estranged grifter father.

That's particularly inconvenient because Lee has spent years telling his daughter that her grandfather is dead.

Created by Reservation Dogs' Sterlin Harjo, the Tulsa noir comedy once again puts Lee somewhere between investigative journalist, amateur detective and professional troublemaker.

He finds the truth.

Everything that happens afterward is usually the problem.

The Lowdown Season 2 premieres October 14 on FX and Hulu.
