The Institute Season 2 Reveals the Nightmare Is Much Bigger

Luke Ellis escaped the Institute.

Unfortunately, he didn't escape the people behind it.

Based on Stephen King's bestselling novel, The Institute returns for Season 2 with Luke, Tim Jamieson and the surviving children dealing with the aftermath of their escape from the facility that kidnapped and experimented on children with extraordinary psychic abilities.

Season 1 began with teenage genius Luke Ellis being abducted and taken to the Institute, where he discovered other children with telepathy, telekinesis and unusual abilities.

The people running the facility claimed their work served a greater purpose:

They were saving the world.

Luke and the others eventually fought back and escaped.

But freedom brought an even more disturbing discovery.

The facility they escaped wasn't the only one.

The Institute operates around the world.

Season 2 picks up immediately afterward as Luke and his fellow survivors attempt to expose the organization's crimes and find a way to destroy it for good, all while an army of people connected to the Institute hunts them down.

Meanwhile, the organization is already trying to rebuild.

Alfie Allen joins the cast as Nolan Reeves, an eccentric European tech billionaire and financial backer of the Institute whose money and ambitions could help bring the operation back even stronger than before.

And Ms. Sigsby isn't finished either.

Now a fugitive herself, Sigsby searches for a way back inside the organization while pursuing revenge, only to begin discovering secrets about the Institute that even she didn't know existed.

Luke thought escaping would end the nightmare.
