The Good Daughter Forces Two Sisters to Confront Their Past
Some families survive tragedy. Living with what comes afterward can be even harder.
The Good Daughter stars Meghann Fahy and Rose Byrne as Charlotte and Samantha Quinn, two estranged sisters whose lives were shattered by a violent tragedy more than 20 years ago.
As teenagers, Charlie and Sam survived a brutal home invasion that killed their mother and left both sisters carrying scars that would shape the rest of their lives.
They eventually followed very different paths.
Charlie (Fahy) remained in Pikeville, Georgia, becoming a defense attorney like their father, Rusty. Sam (Byrne) left town and built a career as a patent lawyer at a major New York City firm, putting as much distance as possible between herself and the place where everything changed.
Then violence comes to Pikeville again.
Charlie is at her former high school when a deadly shooting takes place, making her one of the first witnesses to another tragedy that rocks the community.
When their father asks Sam to return home and help her sister, the two women are forced back into each other's lives.
As they begin investigating what really happened at the school, the new case starts uncovering painful memories and buried secrets connected to their own past.
What begins as a search for answers becomes something much more personal, forcing Charlie and Sam to confront the trauma that separated them and the complicated bond that never completely disappeared.
Part legal mystery and part family drama, The Good Daughter is ultimately about two sisters discovering that solving the case in front of them may require finally facing what happened behind them.
