Thirteen people. One isolated island. And a killer who may be trapped among them.
The Final Problem is a four-part Netflix mystery based on the bestselling novel by Arturo Pérez-Reverte, combining a classic locked-room murder mystery with an intriguing Sherlock Holmes connection.
Set in the spring of 1959, the story begins when a violent storm leaves 13 people stranded at a secluded hotel on a small island near Mallorca.
No one can leave.
No one else can arrive.
Then one of the guests dies.
Elisa Mander, a quiet English tourist, is found dead in what initially appears to be a suicide. But details surrounding her death soon suggest something considerably more sinister.
Elisa was murdered.
With everyone trapped on the island, suspicion immediately turns toward the hotel's guests and employees. Somewhere among them could be the person responsible.
Fortunately, there's also someone with a little experience solving fictional murders.
Basil, a retired actor who once portrayed Sherlock Holmes on the big screen, unexpectedly finds himself taking on the role of detective for real.
But this isn't a movie, and the mystery becomes increasingly complicated as secrets emerge and nearly everyone at the hotel appears to have something to hide.
Basil spent years pretending to be one of literature's greatest detectives.
Now, with a real killer somewhere inside the hotel, he'll have to prove he actually learned something from the role.
The Final Problem premieres September 25 on Netflix.
