Scrubs Season 2 Brings J.D., Turk and Elliot Back to Sacred Heart

The doctors of Scrubs are all grown up although that probably doesn't mean they've completely grown out of the chaos.

Scrubs returns for Season 2, with Zach Braff, Donald Faison and Sarah Chalke once again stepping into the halls of Sacred Heart.  This time, however, J.D., Turk and Elliot aren't the young doctors trying to figure everything out.

They've become the veterans.

Years after beginning their careers at Sacred Heart, John “J.D.” Dorian, Christopher Turk and Elliot Reid are now respected doctors helping guide and inspire a new generation while dealing with the familiar ups, downs and unexpected moments that come with working in a hospital.

The revival mixes characters from the original series with new faces, including Ava Bunn as Sam Tosh, as Sacred Heart enters a different era.

Season 2 is expected to continue exploring the relationship between the hospital's longtime doctors and its younger staff, while one storyline from the first season could become particularly important.

Dr. Perry Cox, played by John C. McGinley, was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease at the end of Season 1, leaving questions about his health and what the diagnosis could mean for him moving forward.

For a show that has always mixed ridiculous comedy with surprisingly emotional moments, Dr. Cox's story could bring plenty of both.

The hospital may have changed, and J.D., Turk and Elliot may finally be the experienced ones in the room, but Scrubs is still about navigating medicine, friendship and life with a little laughter along the way.

Scrubs Season 2 premieres Wednesday, September 30 at 8/7c on ABC, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers.
