About The Body

The Body Turns a Catholic School Dance Ritual Into a Nightmare

The Lions dance team wanted to win regionals.

Now they have a much bigger problem.

What happened to Grace?

The Body is an eight-episode Netflix series that blends coming-of-age drama, dark comedy and supernatural horror inside a Catholic school where a group of teenage girls discovers that some secrets are impossible to keep buried.

The story begins on Halloween night.

Led by team captains Anya (Kristina Bogic) and Elise (Sara Boustany), the Lions decide to welcome their newest recruit, Grace (Sofia Wylie), with an initiation ritual that's anything but traditional.

Fueled by drugs, teenage rebellion and a twisted desire to win their next competition, the girls perform a mock satanic ceremony that quickly spirals out of control.

Then something happens to Grace.

And nothing is quite the same afterward.

As the girls attempt to conceal what happened that night, members of the group begin experiencing strange prophetic visions, triggering fear, suspicion and eventually mass hysteria throughout their community.

What started as a reckless teenage ritual becomes something far more disturbing as the girls struggle to understand whether they're experiencing supernatural forces, the consequences of their own actions or something neither can explain.

Created by Quinn Shephard, the writer and director behind Under the Bridge, The Body explores the complicated world of teenage friendships, identity, religious expectations and the pressure to belong.

Shephard draws inspiration from films including Carrie, Jennifer's Body and Mean Girls, mixing psychological horror with the awkwardness, humor and emotional intensity of growing up.

The series also stars Geena Meszaros and Gabby Windey, bringing together a group of characters whose friendships and loyalties are tested as the mystery surrounding Grace deepens.

The Lions wanted to prove they were willing to do anything to win.

Now they may have to live with what they actually did.

All eight episodes of The Body begin streaming exclusively on Netflix November 11, 2026.
