Crystal Lake Reveals How Pamela Voorhees Became a Killer

Before Jason Voorhees became the face of Friday the 13th, there was his mother.

Crystal Lake takes audiences back before the original 1980 film to explore the story of Pamela Voorhees, played by Linda Cardellini, and the tragedy that begins transforming a grieving mother into the killer horror fans eventually come to know.

Nearly a year has passed since Pamela's young son Jason (Callum Vinson) apparently drowned during a terrible accident at summer camp.

His body was never recovered.

While the rest of Crystal Lake attempts to move on, Pamela can't. She remains convinced that her son could somehow still be alive and struggles with grief that increasingly consumes her life.

She finds unexpected comfort in Levon Brooks, the town's police chief, and the two begin growing closer.

Then people start dying.

As mysterious deaths disturb the quiet community, questions begin surrounding Pamela and exactly what happened before Jason disappeared.

Levon turns to his journalist sister, Briana, hoping she can uncover the truth. But what begins as an investigation into a few suspicious deaths gradually exposes something much darker.

At the same time, two strangers arrive at Pamela's door looking into her past, bringing buried secrets back into her life and setting off a dangerous chain of events.

Crystal Lake isn't simply another story about Jason Voorhees.

It's the story of how his mother became Pamela Voorhees — and how grief, obsession and the secrets surrounding one small town helped create the nightmare that would eventually become Friday the 13th.
