About Blade Runner 2099

Blade Runner 2099 Takes Us Into a Future Humanity No Longer Controls

Los Angeles has survived another 50 years.

But the city no longer belongs entirely to humanity.

Blade Runner 2099 brings the legendary science-fiction franchise back with an eight-episode Prime Video limited series starring Michelle Yeoh and Hunter Schafer.

Set half a century after the events of Blade Runner 2049, the story introduces a radically transformed Los Angeles, where the boundaries between humans and artificial beings have become even more complicated.

And the future isn't looking particularly hopeful.

At the center of the story is Cora, a fugitive who has spent her life running from a past she can never seem to escape.

Desperate to finally disappear, she takes on one last identity.

A Blade Runner.

But becoming someone who hunts others creates an unexpected problem when she's forced into a dangerous partnership with Olwen, a Replicant who has only days left to live.

Together, they're assigned to track down a mysterious runaway.

What initially appears to be another pursuit quickly becomes something much bigger.

The person they're hunting is hiding a secret that could bring the entire city crashing down.

As Cora and Olwen move deeper into their investigation, they find themselves navigating a world where technology has reshaped society and the distinction between human life and artificial existence is increasingly difficult to define.

With time running out for Olwen and Cora's own future hanging in the balance, the two must decide how far they're willing to go to uncover the truth.

And whether the world they're trying to protect deserves to survive in its current form.

Created by Silka Luisa, Blade Runner 2099 continues the universe first introduced in Ridley Scott's groundbreaking 1982 film Blade Runner, which starred Harrison Ford as Rick Deckard.

The franchise later returned with Blade Runner 2049 in 2017, starring Ryan Gosling and exploring a future where artificial humans known as Replicants continued challenging the very meaning of humanity.

Now the story moves another 50 years forward.

With Ridley Scott serving as an executive producer, the new series also features Dimitri Abold, Lewis Gribben, Sheila Atim, Matthew Needham and Tom Burke, among others.

Blade Runner 2099 returns to the questions that have defined the franchise for decades.

What makes someone human?

Who deserves the right to exist?

And what happens when the world we created no longer needs us?

The future has arrived. Humanity just might not be the one controlling it anymore.

All eight episodes of Blade Runner 2099 begin streaming exclusively on Prime Video November 25, 2026.
