Below Sends Josh Hartnett Into a Mystery Beneath the Sea

Something is lurking beneath the waters of Newfoundland.

Josh Hartnett stars in Below, a six-part Netflix limited series that combines creature thriller, mystery and family drama in a small fishing community where something terrifying has emerged from the sea.

Hartnett plays Calvin Penney, a big-hearted but stubborn fisherman still haunted by the mysterious death of his father decades earlier.

When an unidentified sea creature begins terrorizing his hometown, Calvin finds himself fighting to protect more than just his livelihood.

His family is in danger too.

Determined to keep his son Wade (Charlie Heaton) and the rest of his family safe, Calvin joins forces with a visiting marine researcher played by Mackenzie Davis to figure out exactly what's living beneath the water and how to stop it.

But the creature may not be the only mystery surrounding the town.

As their investigation goes deeper, long-buried secrets begin coming to the surface, including questions surrounding Calvin's past and the death of his father.

Created by Jesse McKeown, Below blends local mythology and suspense with a story about a close-knit community struggling to protect a way of life that's already beginning to disappear.

For Calvin, saving his hometown may require confronting both the monster in the water and the secrets that have been waiting beneath the surface for years.

Whatever is down there, it's not staying down there.
