BASS X MACHINA

Bass X Machina Brings a Legendary Lawman Into a Supernatural Wild West

The Wild West was already a dangerous place.

Now imagine it filled with deadly machines, ruthless outlaws and supernatural creatures.

Bass X Machina stars Brian Tyree Henry and Janelle Monáe in a Netflix series that reimagines the American frontier through a world of steampunk technology, supernatural horror and frontier justice.

Inspired by the life of Bass Reeves, one of the first Black U.S. Deputy Marshals west of the Mississippi River, the series takes the idea of a legendary lawman and places him inside a world unlike the one history remembers.

This frontier isn't simply ruled by gunslingers and criminals.

It's overrun by machines, outlaws and terrifying supernatural forces.

At the center of the story is a father determined to protect his family in a land where traditional law and order have all but disappeared.

With danger closing in from every direction, he's forced to take justice into his own hands, becoming judge, jury and executioner against the threats standing between him and the people he loves.

But every decision carries a price.

As the violence escalates, the choices he makes to keep his family safe may ultimately threaten the very relationships he's fighting to preserve.

Drawing inspiration from the real Bass Reeves, whose remarkable career as a lawman became part of American frontier history, Bass X Machina takes a very different approach to the Western genre.

Instead of presenting a traditional historical drama, the series blends Western action, science-fiction technology and supernatural fantasy into a world where survival may require becoming just as dangerous as the forces you're fighting.

He's trying to bring justice to a lawless land.

But what happens when protecting your family means risking everything that makes you human?

Bass X Machina begins streaming exclusively on Netflix November 3, 2026.
