A Different World Returns to Hillman College

Hillman College is welcoming a new generation, and this time, a Wayne is part of the freshman class.

Netflix's A Different World continues the story of the beloved sitcom with Deborah Wayne (Maleah Joi Moon), the youngest daughter of Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert, heading off to the same college where her parents' story began.

Deborah is free-spirited, rebellious and determined to create a life of her own.

There's just one problem.

At Hillman, everybody knows her parents.

With Kadeem Hardison and Jasmine Guy returning as Dwayne and Whitley, Deborah begins her freshman year trying to escape their considerable shadow and build a legacy that belongs to her.

She won't be doing it alone.

A new generation of Hillman students includes Rashida (Alijah Kai), Kojo (Chibuikem Uche), Shaquille (Cornell Young IV), Amir (Jordan Aaron Hall) and Hazel (Kennedi Reece), as the 10-episode series explores college, friendships, relationships and finding your place in the world.

And longtime fans can expect more familiar faces.

Several original A Different World cast members return to Hillman, including Darryl M. Bell, Cree Summer, Dawnn Lewis, Glynn Turman, Jenifer Lewis and Jada Pinkett Smith, among others.

Original series director and producer Debbie Allen is also back as an executive producer and directs the premiere episode, helping connect this new chapter with the series that came before it.

Years ago, Hillman helped Dwayne, Whitley and their friends discover who they wanted to become.

Now it's their children's turn.

A Different World premieres September 24 on Netflix.
