9-1-1 Season 10 Turns Los Angeles Into Lava Land

The 118 has survived earthquakes, tsunamis and plenty of disasters that probably weren't covered in the training manual.

Season 10 is about to add another one to the list:

A volcano in Los Angeles.

9-1-1 returns on October 15, bringing the firefighters, police officers and dispatchers back for another season of emergencies where seemingly ordinary situations can become catastrophic without warning.

The season begins when a massive sinkhole opens in Los Angeles, sending the 118 racing into action as the city faces another potentially devastating emergency.

But the sinkhole is only the beginning.

What initially appears to be one disaster develops into something considerably bigger when volcanic activity erupts beneath Los Angeles, turning parts of the city into what the show is appropriately calling “LA-VA Land.”

While the 118 deals with the unfolding catastrophe, other members of the team are entering new chapters of their own.

Athena is still adjusting to life as a detective and must rely on her instincts when a mysterious new case lands in front of her. Meanwhile, May begins finding her confidence as she settles into a new job.

Created by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, 9-1-1 has always combined enormous disasters with the personal lives of the first responders expected to run toward them.

After 10 seasons, finding something the 118 hasn't seen before isn't easy.

Apparently, a volcano erupting in downtown Los Angeles will do it.

9-1-1 Season 10 premieres October 15 on ABC, with episodes streaming the following day on Hulu.
