Without Blood Confronts the Lasting Scars of War
The war may be over, but Nina's fight with the past isn't.
Salma Hayek Pinault stars in Without Blood, a drama written and directed by Angelina Jolie about revenge, memory and the wounds people continue carrying long after violence has ended.
Based on Alessandro Baricco's acclaimed novel, the film unfolds in the aftermath of an unnamed war that devastated families and changed countless lives.
Nina was one of those survivors.
After losing her family during the conflict, she spends years living with the trauma of what happened and searching for answers about the people responsible.
Her journey eventually leads her to a man played by Demián Bichir, someone Nina believes holds the truth about her family's deaths.
But confronting him forces Nina to face something more complicated than revenge.
As the past resurfaces, Without Blood explores how differently people remember the same acts of violence — and whether understanding what happened can ever bring peace to someone whose life was shaped by it.
What begins as a confrontation between two people becomes a deeply personal examination of war, guilt, trauma, forgiveness and healing.
Nina has spent years carrying the weight of what was taken from her.
Now she has to decide whether revenge will finally set her free, or simply keep the war alive.
