Tuner Turns a Perfect Ear Into the Perfect Crime

Niki has an extraordinary ear for music.

It turns out that skill is useful for something considerably more dangerous.

Leo Woodall stars in Tuner as Niki, a gifted young piano tuner whose heightened sense of hearing allows him to detect the smallest differences in sound.

With his dreams of a musical career behind him, Niki spends his days traveling around New York with his mentor, Harry Horowitz, played by Dustin Hoffman, tuning pianos for an assortment of clients.

Then someone discovers Niki's unusual talent has another application.

He can crack safes.

The same ability that allows him to precisely tune a piano enables Niki to hear the subtle mechanical movements inside a lock, making him extremely valuable to people operating on the wrong side of the law.

Soon, his carefully ordered life is replaced by an increasingly dangerous world of high-stakes theft.

At the same time, Niki begins developing a relationship with Ruthie (Havana Rose Liu), a composition student who represents a very different future from the criminal life pulling him deeper in.

The more successful Niki becomes at opening safes, the more difficult it becomes to simply walk away — and the more he risks losing the person he may actually want to become.

Directed by Academy Award winner Daniel Roher in his narrative feature debut, Tuner also stars Tovah Feldshuh, Jean Reno and Lior Raz.

Niki spent years training his ear to unlock the beauty inside music.
