Trust Me, I’m a Doctor Revisits the Anna Nicole Smith Case

Trust Me, I’m a Doctor stars Kal Penn as Dr. Sandeep Kapoor, the physician whose life and career were turned upside down after he became caught in the legal and media firestorm surrounding Smith's death.

Abbie Cornish portrays Anna Nicole Smith, the model and reality television star whose personal struggles and sudden death became the subject of intense public scrutiny.

Kapoor had been Smith's doctor, but their relationship extended beyond the traditional boundaries of a physician and patient, something that would later draw considerable attention.

Following Smith's death, Kapoor was charged with multiple felonies connected to medications prescribed to her, placing him at the center of a highly publicized criminal case.

He maintained his innocence.

Linda Hamilton stars as defense attorney Ellyn Garofalo, who represents Kapoor as he faces a nine-week trial that could determine both his freedom and his professional future.

Kapoor was ultimately acquitted of all charges.

Written and directed by Thane Economou and based on Kapoor's 2017 memoir, Trust Me, I’m a Doctor tells the story from the physician's perspective, drawing on the personal journals he kept throughout his life.

Rather than focusing solely on Anna Nicole Smith's final days, the film explores what happened to one of the people pulled into the aftermath, and what it's like to become part of a sensational celebrity story when the world has already formed an opinion.
