THE INVITE

The Invite Turns a Dinner Party Into a Marriage Test

Joe and Angela's marriage is already hanging by a thread.

Inviting the neighbors over for dinner probably shouldn't make things worse.

It does.

Seth Rogen and Olivia Wilde star in The Invite as Joe and Angela, a married couple whose relationship has reached the point where something clearly needs to change.

Then they invite their mysterious upstairs neighbors over for dinner.

Played by Penélope Cruz and Edward Norton, the couple brings an unexpected energy into Joe and Angela's home, and what begins as a seemingly ordinary evening gradually moves into increasingly surprising territory.

Conversations become more revealing.

Boundaries begin shifting.

And Joe and Angela find themselves confronting things about their relationship that may have been easier to ignore before their guests arrived.

But something else begins happening too.

The unpredictable evening may actually be bringing Joe and Angela closer together even as it threatens to expose exactly how far apart they've become.

Directed by Olivia Wilde from a screenplay by Will McCormack and Rashida Jones, The Invite turns one dinner party into an intimate examination of marriage, attraction and what happens when another couple forces you to look differently at your own relationship.

Joe and Angela invited their neighbors over hoping for an interesting night.

By the end, they may have rekindled the spark or lit the match that burns everything down.

The Invite begins streaming exclusively on HBO Max October 23, followed by its HBO premiere October 24 at 8:00 p.m. ET.
