Terrell & T.O. Reveals the Man Behind One of Football’s Biggest Personalities

Terrell Owens could change a football game with one catch.

He could also make headlines without ever touching the ball.

Terrell & T.O. is a feature-length documentary exploring the extraordinary career, complicated public image and personal evolution of one of the NFL's most talented and outspoken wide receivers.

Long before the touchdown celebrations, controversies and Hall of Fame recognition, Terrell Owens was a relatively unknown third-round draft pick out of the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga.

Selected by the San Francisco 49ers in 1996, Owens entered the NFL surrounded by legends, learning from Hall of Fame quarterback Steve Young and fellow wide receiver Jerry Rice.

It didn't take long for him to establish an identity of his own.

With his combination of size, speed, physical dominance and remarkable playmaking ability, Owens developed into one of the most dangerous offensive weapons in professional football.

But his impact went far beyond statistics.

T.O. became a personality almost as big as the game itself.

His elaborate touchdown celebrations, outspoken interviews and willingness to challenge teammates, coaches and the media made him one of football's most recognizable — and controversial — figures.

Some admired his confidence and refusal to conform.

Others questioned whether his individual expression sometimes came at the expense of the team.

Through it all, his ability on the field remained undeniable.

The documentary follows Owens' journey through the NFL, including his memorable years with the 49ers, Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys, while exploring the complicated relationships and public controversies that shaped his career.

Featuring interviews with Owens, family members and former teammates, the film also brings together football figures including Jerry Rice, Steve Young, Jeff Garcia, Tony Romo, Jerry Jones and Andy Reid.

Journalists Jemele Hill and Skip Bayless also contribute perspectives on a player whose relationship with the media became nearly as famous as his performances.

But Terrell & T.O. doesn't stop when Owens' playing career ends.

The film catches up with him in the present day, examining how he's navigating life beyond football, redefining his identity and finding new purpose outside the sport that made him famous.

For years, fans debated whether Terrell Owens was a brilliant athlete, a difficult teammate or simply a man who refused to be anything other than himself.

Maybe the answer was never that simple.

The NFL knew T.O. Now it's time to get to know Terrell.

Terrell & T.O. begins streaming exclusively on Prime Video November 5, 2026.
