Resident Evil Brings a New Nightmare to Raccoon City

Wrong place. Wrong night. Very wrong delivery.

Resident Evil returns to the big screen with an all-new story from Zach Cregger, the filmmaker behind Barbarian and Weapons, bringing his own take on Capcom's iconic survival-horror franchise.

Austin Abrams stars as Bryan, a medical courier whose routine delivery to Raccoon City General Hospital puts him directly in the middle of a rapidly unfolding nightmare.

An outbreak has begun.

Suddenly, Bryan finds himself trapped in a city descending into chaos as infected and mutated creatures begin taking over the streets. What should have been another delivery becomes a desperate fight to stay alive long enough to find a way out.

Unlike previous Resident Evil movies, Cregger's film introduces a new central character rather than simply retelling one of the games. However, the story unfolds alongside events inspired by Resident Evil 2, bringing Bryan into Raccoon City during one of the franchise's most infamous outbreaks.

The film marks the second cinematic reboot and eighth live-action movie based on the hugely popular video game series.

Joining Abrams are Zach Cherry, Kali Reis, Johnno Wilson and Paul Walter Hauser as a new group of characters caught inside the nightmare.

For Bryan, there's no special mission and no plan to save the world.

He was just supposed to make a delivery.

Now he'll be lucky to survive the night.

Resident Evil arrives in theaters September 18, 2026.
