The documentary follows Curry's journey from childhood through his rise to NBA superstardom, using personal home videos and footage from throughout his career to show how a kid obsessed with basketball developed a skill that would eventually change how the game itself is played.

At the center of the film is Curry's pursuit of another historic milestone:

4,000 career three-pointers.

The journey culminates on March 13, 2025, when Curry became the first player in NBA history to reach 4,000 made three-pointers during a Golden State Warriors game against the Sacramento Kings.

The historic night was captured using 21 IMAX cameras, allowing audiences to experience the moment on a scale rarely given to a basketball game.

But Portrait of an Artist looks beyond statistics and records.

The film brings in artists and creative voices including Viola Davis, Rick Rubin, Patti Smith and Jon Batiste to examine what separates technical excellence from artistry — whether that creativity happens through acting, music, writing or with a basketball in your hands.
