Some nightmares don't end when you wake up.

Shudder's Parasomnia follows Riley (Jasmine Mathews), a young woman already haunted by a tragic past who suffers from terrifying night terrors.

But Riley's nightmares may be more than dreams.

When her best friend becomes the latest person to mysteriously disappear, she begins to suspect that the demonic figure stalking her while she sleeps has somehow crossed over into the real world.

Now the line between Riley's nightmares and reality is beginning to disappear, forcing her to confront both the supernatural threat pursuing her and the unresolved trauma she's carried with her for years.

Written and directed by James Ross II in his feature-film debut, Parasomnia stars Jasmine Mathews (The Tomorrow War, Sweetbitter) alongside RJ Brown, Sally Stewart, Stephen Barrington, Danny Brown and Simon Longnight.

The supernatural horror film takes a familiar fear — being unable to escape what's waiting for you in your dreams — and asks a much worse question:

What happens when it doesn't stay there?
