Other Mommy Turns a Mother’s Face Into a Nightmare

What if the monster hiding in your closet looked exactly like your mother?

Other Mommy is a supernatural horror film from producer James Wan and director Rob Savage, following an 8-year-old girl whose relationship with a mysterious presence inside her home becomes increasingly terrifying.

Arabella Olivia Clark stars as Bela, a young girl growing up in a household already strained by problems between her parents.

Then something begins appearing from her closet.

Bela calls the entity “Other Mommy” because it looks almost exactly like her real mother.

Jessica Chastain takes on both roles, playing Bela's mother as well as the sinister manifestation that begins inserting itself into the young girl's life.

At first, Other Mommy attempts to form a connection with Bela, asking the unsettling question:

“Can I go inside your heart?”

But as the entity becomes more threatening, Bela and her family begin to realize they're dealing with something that isn't simply pretending to be her mother, it wants something from them.

Chastain stars alongside Jay Duplass as Bela's father, Daddo, as the family is forced to confront a supernatural presence that has chosen one of the most disturbing disguises imaginable.

With Wan behind Saw, Insidious and The Conjuring, and Savage known for Host and The Boogeyman, Other Mommy brings together two filmmakers very familiar with turning ordinary homes into places you don't want to be after dark.

Because when the monster looks like someone you trust, where exactly are you supposed to run?

Other Mommy arrives exclusively in theaters October 9, 2026.
