NARNIA: THE MAGICIAN'S NEPHEW

Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew Reveals How Narnia Began

Long before the wardrobe opened, there was a lion.

And a world waiting to be created.

Greta Gerwig brings C. S. Lewis's The Magician's Nephew to the screen for the first time, taking audiences back to the very beginning of The Chronicles of Narnia.

Published in 1955, The Magician's Nephew serves as an origin story for the fantasy world generations of readers would later enter through The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

This time, audiences won't simply visit Narnia.

They'll witness its creation.

The story follows two children whose adventure takes them beyond their ordinary world and into strange new realms, eventually placing them at the beginning of events that will shape Narnia for generations.

At the center of that beginning is Aslan, the great lion whose song brings the world of Narnia to life.

The adventure also reveals the origins of familiar pieces of Narnian history and begins establishing how connections between our world and Narnia came to exist in the first place.

Written and directed by Greta Gerwig, the film stars newcomers David McKenna and Beatrice Campbell alongside Emma Mackey, Daniel Craig and Meryl Streep.

It's the first adaptation of The Magician's Nephew, despite the story being one of the seven books that make up Lewis's Chronicles of Narnia series.

For audiences who already know Narnia, the film offers the opportunity to see how the legend began.

For everyone else, it's an invitation to enter the world from its very first moment.

Before Lucy found the wardrobe.

Before the White Witch ruled Narnia.

Before any of the adventures we know...

Aslan sang a world into existence.

Narnia: The Magician's Nephew begins with IMAX sneak previews February 10, 2027, followed by its theatrical and IMAX release February 12, before streaming globally on Netflix April 2, 2027.
