About Motor City

Motor City Sends Alan Ritchson on a Brutal Road to Revenge

John Miller had a good job, a woman he loved and a future worth looking forward to.

Then one powerful man took it all away.

Motor City stars Alan Ritchson as John Miller, a working-class Vietnam War veteran whose life is destroyed after he falls in love with the wrong woman in 1970s Detroit.

Set against the gritty streets and industrial backdrop of 1977 Detroit, the story follows John as he builds a relationship with Sophia (Shailene Woodley), a woman trying to escape her troubled past.

Unfortunately, that past includes Reynolds (Ben Foster), a ruthless local gangster who has no intention of letting Sophia move on with someone else.

When Reynolds discovers their relationship, he decides to eliminate his competition.

He frames John for a crime he didn't commit.

John is sent to prison, losing his freedom, his relationship and the future he'd been planning with Sophia.

But prison doesn't make him forget.

It gives him time to plan.

Years later, John returns to Detroit with one thing on his mind:

Revenge.

Determined to confront the man responsible for destroying his life, John begins a relentless campaign against Reynolds and the criminal network surrounding him.

And this time, he's not interested in playing by anyone else's rules.

Directed by Potsy Ponciroli from a screenplay by Chad St. John, Motor City takes an unusual approach to the revenge thriller, relying on minimal dialogue, intense action and a driving rock soundtrack to tell much of its story.

The film also stars Pablo Schreiber and Lionel Boyce, bringing together a cast of characters caught in a world of organized crime, corruption and personal vengeance.

John Miller once believed he could build a better life with the woman he loved.

Now he's returned to the city that took everything from him.

And he's not leaving until the people responsible pay for it.

Motor City begins streaming Friday, November 6, 2026, on AMC+.
