Mayday Pairs Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh Behind Enemy Lines

Getting stranded behind enemy lines is bad enough. Getting rescued by an ex-KGB agent wasn't exactly part of the plan.

Ryan Reynolds and Kenneth Branagh star in Mayday, an action comedy that turns a top-secret Cold War mission into an unlikely partnership between two men who are supposed to be enemies.

Reynolds plays Lieutenant Troy “Assassin” Kelly, a hotshot U.S. Navy pilot sent on a classified mission deep inside Russian territory at the height of the Cold War.

The operation doesn't go according to plan.

Troy is shot down and left stranded behind enemy lines, where being discovered could mean capture — or worse.

Instead, he encounters Nikolai Ustinov (Branagh), a gruff former KGB agent with an unexpected fascination with American culture.

Troy initially assumes he's in serious trouble. But Nikolai may actually be his best chance of getting home.

What follows is an unlikely alliance between an American pilot and a former Soviet intelligence officer as the two attempt to survive a dangerous situation neither expected to face together.

And somewhere between escaping trouble and navigating their very different personalities, the enemies begin forming a bond neither of them saw coming.

Part Cold War adventure and part buddy comedy, Mayday puts two unlikely allies on the same side when everything around them says they shouldn't be.
