Jumanji: Open World Brings the Game Into the Real World for One Final Adventure

They've survived the jungles of Jumanji.

They've escaped dangerous creatures, impossible challenges and more than a few near-death experiences.

But this time, there's nowhere to escape.

Because Jumanji is coming into our world.

Jumanji: Open World reunites Dwayne Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black and Karen Gillan for the final chapter of the modern Jumanji adventure trilogy.

After surviving the unpredictable dangers of the game in Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle and Jumanji: The Next Level, Spencer, Fridge, Bethany and Martha thought they understood how Jumanji worked.

Get pulled into the game.

Survive the challenges.

Find a way back home.

But the rules have changed.

This time, the game escapes its console.

Instead of the players being transported into Jumanji's dangerous world, the game's characters and chaos begin spilling into reality.

And that means the familiar heroes are suddenly facing an entirely different kind of adventure.

Dr. Smolder Bravestone (Johnson), Franklin “Mouse” Finbar (Hart), Professor Sheldon “Shelly” Oberon (Black) and Ruby Roundhouse (Gillan) find themselves roaming the real world in a mysterious demo mode.

But bringing video game characters into reality creates problems nobody could have anticipated.

The dangers that once existed only inside Jumanji are no longer contained by a screen, turning familiar surroundings into a playground for the game's unpredictable rules.

And with the worlds colliding, the group must figure out how to stop Jumanji before its chaos becomes permanent.

Directed by Jake Kasdan, who also helmed the previous two installments, Jumanji: Open World brings back familiar faces including Nick Jonas, Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Morgan Turner, Ser'Darius Blain, Rhys Darby and Danny DeVito.

The Jumanji franchise actually began with Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 children's book, which inspired the beloved 1995 film starring Robin Williams. The story was later reinvented for a new generation with Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle in 2017, followed by Jumanji: The Next Level in 2019.

Now, Jumanji: Open World brings the modern trilogy to its conclusion while returning to an idea that helped make the original story so memorable.

What happens when the game enters our world instead of the other way around?

The players spent two movies trying to get out of Jumanji.

Now they have to figure out how to put Jumanji back in.
