EBENEZER

Ebenezer Gives A Christmas Carol a Darker New Twist

Everybody knows Ebenezer Scrooge.

This time, we may not know the whole story.

Johnny Depp takes on one of literature's most famous misers in Ebenezer, a new Gothic reimagining of Charles Dickens' classic A Christmas Carol.

Set in early Victorian London, the film follows wealthy businessman Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and isolated man with little interest in Christmas, or seemingly anyone else's happiness.

Then the ghosts arrive.

After an encounter with the spirit of his former business partner, Scrooge is visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come, each forcing him deeper into memories and visions he'd rather avoid.

But this supernatural journey isn't simply about showing Scrooge what will happen if he refuses to change.

It's about confronting how he became the man he is.

As the spirits pull apart his past and reveal the consequences of his choices, Scrooge is forced to determine whether someone who has spent years pushing people away can still find his way back and whether redemption is possible before his future becomes inevitable.

Directed by Ti West, Ebenezer puts a Gothic dark-fantasy spin on Dickens' 1843 story, with a cast that also includes Rupert Grint, Andrea Riseborough, Sam Claflin, Daisy Ridley, Arthur Conti, Ellie Bamber, Tramell Tillman and Ian McKellen.

Three ghosts.

One night.

And one final chance to change everything.

The name you know. The story you don't.

Ebenezer arrives exclusively in theaters November 13, 2026.
