Ali G: Who Iz I? Brings Sacha Baron Cohen’s Original Character Back

Ali G is back.

More than two decades after Ali G Indahouse, Sacha Baron Cohen returns as the clueless, outspoken wannabe gangster who helped launch his career, and this time, Ali is facing something he definitely wasn't prepared for:

Fatherhood.

After spending the past 20 years enjoying life with his longtime girlfriend Julie, Ali is stunned to discover that she's eight months pregnant.

With another mouth to feed and his glory days seemingly behind him, Ali decides there's only one reasonable solution.

Go to America and become famous again.

His attempt to reclaim the spotlight sends him across the Atlantic, where Ali encounters a new collection of people, situations and adversaries that eventually put much more than his reputation at risk.

Ali G: Who Iz I? marks the first major return of the character since Ali G Indahouse in 2002. Cohen originally created Ali G for Britain's The 11 O'Clock Show in the late 1990s before the character became the centerpiece of Da Ali G Show.

The character's deliberately ridiculous interviews and encounters would also help establish the comedy style Cohen later expanded through Borat, Brüno and Who Is America?

Cohen reportedly filmed much of the new movie in secret, continuing his tradition of placing his fictional characters into situations involving unsuspecting real people.

The film also marks another first:

Sacha Baron Cohen makes his feature directorial debut.

Ali G may be older.

Whether he's actually grown up is another question entirely.

Ali G: Who Iz I? arrives in theaters October 23, 2026.
